9 weeks

Katie is nine weeks old as of yesterday. Not too much new happening this week...I feel like this entire blog could consist of a list of who we visit but that could get boring.

She has grown so much that we have had to adjust the headrest on her carseat. At 25 inches (approx.) she only have 4 inches left until she outgrows the seat. We'll have to start looking for the next step soon I think.

She's still sleeping relatively well, which we're ALL enjoying! =) Katie's actually been SUCH a happy baby for the past week or two. Hardly any fussiness...certainly none without cause. Smiles a lot...we were at the Italian Centre Shop by our place and she gave a big smile to some old Italian grandpa...he was quite pleased!

We went to visit G Ken at school yesterday, to show her off to the ladies in the office. She was a big hit and smiling like crazy. I think this "technique" of distraction could definitely be useful if I ever decided to rob a bank. (Don' worry I won't, I know it's wrong)(...but ask me again come University tuition time comes around in 18 years!)

Playpen!

My parents dropped off the playpen they bought for Katie's Birth Day. It's so great! It has a basinet feature and packs down easily for when we go out and about. Katie already loves it!

Note today's cute outfit:And some more cutness in one of her animal bath towels (we have a couple of these and all are adorable!), this photo was taken about two days ago:Today we went to the peadiatritian for her 2 month check up...Katie now weighs 12 pounds and is about 25 inches long. (not yet tall, but long!). And otherwise everything is great and healthy.

Have a great day!

Movie Star

This is a video taken with our camera of Katie in her swing. She does this cute thing where she kicks off her blanket...she does it almost every time. So much for trying to keep her toes warm!

Happy Birthday Ben!!

Happy Birthday to a very special dad and husband from your lovely daughter and wife. Wishing you a wonderful year of happiness for your last year in your 20's. (sorry to remind you!)

This was the best photo in our session...and the first. Of course, I thought we could do better...but by the last photo, it was clear Katie had had enough:

Lots of love,

Heather and Katie

Lobster!

We had dinner last night and GG Dunnigan's...Andrea went out east last weekend to visit Sheldon and brought back Lobster! Cooking them was an interesting experience and they were super delicious! She also brought back a super cute t-shirt for Katie, but I don't have a picture of it yet...will post when we get one.

We've also, in the last few days, discovered that Katie is able to start imitating us...just a little. I stick my tongue in and out and then eventually she tries to do the same. I'll probably regret teaching her that when she's two and have to start teaching her that it's actually a rather rude things to do! =P

Another exciting Katie moment...(I'm excited at small moments!)...I sat her in her bouncy chair (one of two!) that has a toy/music attachment that reacts when she moves the toys. (music and lights when she hits the bird or monkey) She sat in the chair for about 30 minutes while I did dishes and she had lots of music going...whether the toys were being hit entirely by accident or not I can't tell, but I have a feeling she knew in some way that her movement was actually causing the music. Hmm...I will conduct further "studies" and let you know.
Here's a picture of Katie taken today wearing a super cure outfit...The model did not pose well for the camera but I thought I'd post it anyway. (no babies were harmed in teh taking of this picture)Tomorrow...Longest day of the year. I'm enjoying the light (it's still dusky right now at 10:25pm) but it is throwing me off a bit in the sleeping pattern. I have to remid myself that it's time to start getting Katie into bedtime mode. And myself too! Why am I blogging at 10:30? Off to bed!

Weekend Part II - Visitors

Hi again,
Our last weekend was great! Auntie Alli and Uncle Shannon were in for a visit....short but lots of fun. Katie cried a bit but also had some nice calm, alert, smiley, sleepy time. We had two dinners and a lovely breakfast together. I think breakfast has to be my absolute favorite meal to share with people. The day is young and the food is yum. A good time was had by all...pictures follow (sorry some are sideways, can't quite figure out why!)

Weekend Part I - Wardrobe Malfunction

Hey all!

Katie and Ben and I had a busy weekend visitting with Alli and Shannon and have many pictures to share. First though, a quick post that I promised my sister Andrea.

Friday Katie and I were lucky enough to have another one of our "Social Butterfly" days. Coffee with Mrs. Ferguson and Henri and my dad. A lovely visit and wonderful for Katie to meet some special friends.

After coffee, we met Andrea for lunch at Boston Pizza. Service was a bit slow but lunch was yummy...Katie napped while we began to eat and woke up for her own lunch. Feeding her in public has gotten easier for all of us and I'm definitely a pro...or so I thought?

We ran into a gal I work(ed) with and her new son. I was so excited to see her that I wasn't really listening when Andrea said "watch out, her shirt..." and I glanced at Katie, who by this time was only wearing a shirt, having had a little mishap with her pants (Wardrobe Malfunction #1...and why we call her Thunderbum"!) and thought her shirt was fine and continued to stand up and greet my friend. It was then that I realized my sister had actually said "watch out, your shirt..." referring to my bright white bra on full display between the "convenient"(if you don't forget about them) nursing flaps of my shirt. My goodness...how embarrasing! (Wardrobe Malrunction #2)

Let's hope mom learns a good lesson...listen carefully to Andrea at all times. =)

Part II of the weekend to come later (Ben had strep throat all weekend making us a tiny bit behind in posting).

All Smiles!

As you can see we're not lying, Katie really does smile now. This picture was taken while we had some "tummy-time"...practicing pushing up on our arms and legs. The quilt was a special hand made gift from my Auntie Elaine.

As usual we've been busy...errands and shopping as usual. The weather has cooled off thankfully...we're all more comfortable now.

Yesterday Ben and I went to the 40th Anniversary Edmonton Catholic School's All City Band concert. I am an alumnus and my Uncle Frank is the conductor...and has been for the whole 40 years. It was a great concert and a great "date-night". We left Katie at Ken and Cheryl's and they all had a great time..lots of smiles and fun and a Hungry girl when we returned.

Perhaps it was something in the air but our girl slept 6 hours in a row for the first time ever. We're pleased and not expecting it to continue (don't want to get our hopes up).

I was also able to bake a batch of muffins today...Strawberry Banana....a recipe off the web. They're not bad..not a lot flavour but ok. Good way to use strawberrys. Katie says "They taste great!" (just kidding, she IS amazing and advanced for her age, but of course she's not eating solids yet!) (nor does she actually talk) I even had enough energy after that to try a Strollercize class offered at the Kinsmen Sports Centre. It was neat to get out there and a nice challenge. some jogging/walking and strength training. Might be a nice place to meet other moms and playmates.
We'll see if tomorrow's as busy!

Hot Stuff

This weekend was warm and our little Katie was Hot Stuff too...Both the sunglasses and dress were a gift, and both are really too big but we couldn't resist putting them on her anyway.

We had a busy weekend again with a few long walks (we love our stroller so much!)

Of note, we had a nice visit with friends Russ and Stephanie in their new house, Dad planted the veggie garden with great grandma Mary, we went to our church for the first time and slept through it (Katie, not mom and dad!), and tried to stay cool by hanging out naked (again Katie only!). This coming weekend Auntie Alli and Uncle Shannon are flying in...Katie can't wait...hope the week goes by fast!
