Brought to you by the word "Raspberry"

Phew...it's much cooler now. And somewhat rainy. Lovely.

Katie has a new tooth! That makes nine now. It's been a while since we've had a tooth announcement and there are several brewing under those smiling gums. I didn't notice her fuss much with this one though she did wake up for an hour or two the other night. The tooth or the heat who knows?

Enjoy the video!

More hot...Send ice cubes!

It is very hot right now. Something above 30C for sure. We've got fans going and are drinking lots of water. Trying to stay cool. Hoping for a trip to the pool but not sure if we'll have time tonight.

Just to show that Katie's not entirely perfect, here's a moody picture...I'm pretty sure it was pre-bedtime. Cute even when she's cranky.
Cranky, but nothing a little book and a cuddle wouldn't fix.
The next day, Katie modeled a new-ish shirt. It was cooler earlier in the week. This was Tuesday night right before she went out for dinner with Papa, who was babysitting her while Ben and I went to see the Tom Petty concert with Auntie Andrea. The concert was super and we had a great (rockin') time!
Dinner with Papa was at my cousin's place (have to ask about naming them on the blog) and Katie came home with a huge bag of clothes...they are so adorable and I think many will fit. Thank you! Here's one dress...
And a goofy girl to go with it.
Katie looks like she was helping do laundry, but you shouldn't be surprised to learn it was actually a very fun game of peek a boo. (will this game EVER get old? Doubt it!)We've also been busy watching Olympics. Katie enjoys the swimming and the horse jumping (is there an official name for that? Equestrian something...?).But the thing Katie's been enjoying most these days is Raspberries! We were picking tons off our bushes and she KNOWS the word raspberry and says it All The Time. We often pick one on our way out to the garage, so as soon as we head towards towards the car she starts getting excited and saying "rahz bury" (that's kind of how it sounds...and you have to say it pretty fast.)All Gone!Friday after Ben and Katie picked me up from work, we stopped by the Upper Crust for dinner. The waitress was lovely and having kids of her own, knew we'd be ordering a fruit cup. Katie (new word alert!) added a very clear "Thank You" when Ben thanked her for the menu. Their patio was lovely and cool. Ben was glad to have Bear along. (practicing for a family of four maybe?)Over the weekend we went to Grandpa Ken and Grandma Cheryl's. There was ice cream as evidenced by Katie's little mustache.
There was some fun crawling around on the grass. And plenty of blanket time with Grandpa too. Yesterday, before we realized it was hot enough for it to be a "no clothes for baby day" was wearing one of our favorite dresses of the moment. She crawled around and then had some quiet time, taking all the books off the shelf and then reading them. Good times. Other things we've been doing include bike riding, watching more Olympics, accepting an obscene number of dinner invites to grandparent's houses, waking up to the loudest thunder I think I've ever heard (last night, not Katie, just dad and I woke up), making my own maternity skirts (with Grandma Mary's help), napping, swimming, and doing a tiny bit of laundry. Really just doing out best to enjoy the rest of summer.

Hope you are enjoying the rest of yours!

Cob

Hello!
Well, finally it's cooler today...a nice change from the 30+ degrees we had when most of these pictures were taken.
We were at Grandma Cheryl and Grandpa Ken's for dinner the other night (Ben had spent the day working on hardwood floors at their place). We had corn and gave Katie the cob to chew on.
She liked it!
Dad tried to show her how it's done, with two hands.
And Katie sort of gets it...hard to eat much between those hands so close together though. =)
After dinner she sat with Grandpa Ken and drove around a bit (with the cork trivet from IKEA...we have tons of these at our house too!).

Afterwards, we resumed our places as before dinner out on the blanket in the shade in the yard. We were eating popsicles for dessert and Katie had a tiny "nick" (lick). Ben and his dad look ready to relax after a hard days work!Katie had so much fun rolling around on the blanket. Entertaining herself easily...I like that in a baby. I almost forgot to mention...Great Grandma Lill's dog Boo was there, and it was lots of fun watching her chase after balls in the yard. We also had dinner at Grandma Mary and Papa's the next night, but silly me I forgot the camera. Trust me when I say we had lots of fun there too. (word might have gotten out that we're having some minor trouble with our BBQ)

Today, nice and cool...see Katie wearing shirt AND pants?! She was also sporting a super adorable ribbon barrette (one of a pair), handmade by Uncle Shannon's mom.
The close-up is fuzzy since Katie wouldn't stop moving! I'll try and get a better picture next time, but it's so cute. Otherwise things are going very well. Katie's naming everything she can...can say high chair when she sees her chair...bike, "some-thing", star...the list goes on and on. The list on the right of the blog isn't at all current and I don't think I can keep it up since there are so many words. "Hi" is still the current favorite.

Also, thanks for all the comments on the last post. I read them all out loud to the new baby, but I'm not sure he/she can hear yet. I tried. =)

One plus one equals...

Ok, now I can't remember taking this picture, so maybe Ben did. I don't remember when it was, but sometime this past week. Katie's cute and that's all that matters. =)
We went shopping at Superstore and managed not to spend TOO much money...this swimsuit was on super sale and we'll swim all winter at indoor pools so it's worth getting another suit. Katie loved it and wouldn't let go of it...even when we got home. Note the adorable T shirt with the van on it? (just like Grandma and Papa's!) (gift from Auntie Alli)
Last week we were lucky enough to have dinner at our friends Coreen and Michael's...they have nieces and nephews and so lots of toys for Katie...She's so lucky! We had such a nice visit.
Katie and I visited G. Uncle Jerry (Katie can say "Jerry"). It was a warm day (though not 31C like we are having today!) and he brought her some ice to play with (better than her sticking her hands in my water...smart Uncle!) She had a blast and became much more comfortable with him.
We've had a couple of blog secrets lately, one being that Grandma and Papa have been missing for a while...had you noticed? They'd been living in the van, driving across Canada since school got out and just returned late Tuesday night. They are so happy to see Katie and the feeling is mutual! (and Katie can now say "Hi Gram" or "Hi Pa")(when prompted of course)
We met them early Wednesday for breakfast and we all got caught up. (Katie's dress from Auntie Andrea) As I mentioned, today's a hot one. We were invited to Grandma and Papa's for a BBQ and Katie was the most comfortable one there...we were all wishing the pool was big enough to share. She'd actually spent the day at Papa's while I worked and Ben and Grandpa Ken worked on the basement (we're doing renos...have I mentioned the renos?). Apparently Katie didn't sleep all day...well, there was that 5 min nap in the car...and so on our way home she didn't even last 2 minutes before falling in a deep sleep.

(here's dad adding air to her pool.)She'd had enough energy to make it through dinner...enjoying gnawing on rib bones for the first time. And sucking on piece of lemon...which she quite enjoyed!Look at these adorable curls from the water...so cute!Katie's counting is still going well...she'll spout out numbers in sequence right when she's on her own playing with toys...but not on command. It's all just reciting words, no math yet.

If she WAS able to do math, she'd try to tell you that one plus one makes two...and two babies are better than one, right? That'd be her way of sharing the BIG NEWS that we're expecting again! Currently estimated date of arrival is January 21st, 2009. We'll all excited and feeling well. (that's the other blog secret...there's nothing else, I promise!)(but that's a pretty good one isn't it?) =)

Hope you're having a lovely day!

Windy

I've got pictures to share and a regular post on the way, but no time at the moment to write it all up.
To keep you going, here's another video. Katie loves it when we have the windows down in the car and she feels the wind in her hair....see for yourself!

A quick lesson in numbers

Katie's been working on learning to count. Well, we working on teaching her. Here's where she's at. (apparently, she can also say the next number...example, when you say one, she says two...I'll try and get a video of that soon.)
