Katie and I went to stroller class yesterday. Sometimes I'm really organized and sometimes I'm not. Getting to class can be a challenge timing wise. Here's yesterday's schedule...
6:45am - Katie wakes up and eats for about 15 minutes. Cuddles and plays with dad before he goes to work. Plays on floor while mom reads paper and eats breakfast.
8:am ish - goes down for first nap after a little snack.
9ish - wakes up ready to play! We play for a bit and call Grandpa Dan and arrange a visit(latte included). We chat and play with Grandpa then get tired.
11am - Nap number 2. During this time mom gets workout clothes ready, waterbottle and diaperbag stuff. Chariot's already in the trunk thanks to Ben.
12:15 - Wake up Katie and quickly feed (this is where we feel the time crunch starting...!) Change Katie's diaper and dress her in day clothes. Put her in the Bumbo while I grab everything and put on shoes and run out the door. In the car see time is 12:45...perfect leaving time.
1:15 - Start running and jumping and lunging and squatting and bicep-curling and tricep toning and did I mention running? and more lunging and sideways squatting etcetcetc. I feels sweaty and run down, but in a good way. Then while stretching I think...Hey, I'm really good at this. Getting things together and being organized. This is great!...Then, I look down at my feet and see something like this: Two Different Shoes. What was that again?
Monday we enjoyed our day off and hung out on the bed (in out nice blue mickey onesie!)
Katie says "what's better than hanging out on the bed in a blue Mickey onesie?!" We also went swimming at Kinsmen. Katie was not too cheery about it at first but got into the swim of things before long. Yesterday we has a visit with Those ___ Girls...no friendly headbutting this time. G thinks that's so funny! C loves visiting with Katie! And sharing toys...right? =) Joanne is such a good hostess...although I brought the Starbucks, she made a cake! We must be special! Thanks Joanne!
We also went to Costco yesterday, before our visit. Which fun game to you like to play at Costco?
This weekend was Thanksgiving and of course, besides the normal abundance of thanks we give for family, health etc, we have a great BIG THANKS for our beautiful Katers...looking adorable and tinier than usual sitting in a big grown-up chair:We had a predictably busy weekend (still not over since today's a holiday!) starting with a "wii" visit with Russ(maker of delicious chili) and Steph(master of the wii). Did I mentioned we got to play their new Wii? It was a really neat experience...Of course Ben and I rock the bowling but not so much the Mario. It was very fun although I don't think we'll be buying a wii of our own anytime soon. We'll stick with our wee (one) for now. And, no Katie's not too fond of beer yet. =)
We did try something new this weekend...taking the playpen out for the evening so that Katie can sleep at her normal 8pm bedtime while we're out. This way our "busy" social life isn't cramped by having to rush home super early. We weren't sure how she'd take the move into the car and then into the house and being interrupted from a deep sleep, but overall she did very well and slept through the night once we did make it home. Good Girl! We'll definitely try that again!
Saturday night we had dinner at Great Grandma Mary's. Katie was lucky enough to get her first ever piece of raw carrot to gnaw on. Not sure whether she really liked it or not, but it sure was cute to watch! Hanging out in the kitchen was definitely where it's at!Even GG Mary got in on the action...although afterwards she did mention how much Katie has grown since last time...much heavier! (What a healthy growing girl we have!) Katie was wearing a new dress for the occasion. Kind of funny how she and dad blend in with the autumn coloured couch. And see the great Babylegs? Leggings, so she can wear a dress in cooler weather and we can still have easy diaper access. And they happen to coordinate with the dress. Perfect!
Grandpa Ken did a great job getting some laughs out of Katie. Sunday night we had more turkey at Grandma Mary's. With all grandparents there, I think they shared Katie very well. Ken and Cheryl entertained Katie for a while on the couch. Having fun with the camera, I took this self-portrait. ( a true sign or motherhood...you're in fewer pictures)There was a full house... Uncle Jerry did an excellent job on the place cards. I took ours home because they're so pretty! Maybe I'll use them when I set the table for dinner. Just so we don't get confused over who sits where (Ahem, if I properly set the table for dinner...it's not that we eat in front of the TV or anything (been there done that), but it's a wee bit more casual than a thanksgiving table setting) Andrea got in some good cuddle time. It's looks like our plan to train her for babysitting is working well...she did such a good job last Thursday that Katie will do nothing but smile for her. We joke and say it's the dimples...like looking in a mirror! And lastly, a divine image I like to call "Study in Red": Red shirts and red eyes to match.
In non pictures...Ben and Katie went for a nice long run on Sunday...weather was gorgeous...I think it went up to about 20C yesterday! And Katie is getting closer to rolling over from front to back. She almost managed it at dinner on Saturday night but not quite. I don't think it'll be long now if we give her more practice time.
And, another thing to give thanks for...napping. Not just Katie napping, but mom and dad. Yesterday, Ben and I were so sleepy we did the ol' nap when Katie naps...from 8am until 10am. And we both agreed it was the best nap ever!
Yesterday Katie and I had a great day...one of those days where I actually felt like Supermom...
We managed to have fun, sleep well during naps, tidy up the house and prepare dinner for Coreen, Joanne and the twins. Not every day feels like a supermom day and I don't think every day needs too...but it was great to have a day where I accomplished a lot and didn't feel exhausted by the process. I enjoyed having company and sharing good food. And Katie really enjoys watching those big girls...seeing the big girl things they do. It was just a great day!
I did forget some ingredients for dinner on our first shopping trip of the day, so Katie and I made a run over to a nearby shop with Katie in her stroller *sans car seat* for the first time. Previously, her car seat fit right onto the top of the stroller facing the pusher...now she's facing front and can see all the exciting things out there in the world. Here's a shot of the three girls sharing toys...red shirt day? Chicken Korma and my favorite chickpea salad and yummy fruit salad for dessert. And to end a Super day was a super pink sky, which I tried to photograph, but of course, it's never as beautiful as it is in person. But I tried! Today Katie and I visited a friend and her little boy and after that went off to strollercize. I was brave enough to try the running group (we're usually in the walk/jogger group) and it wasn't all that bad. For anyone who's interested, I took some pictures of the trails and the gorgeous green and gold river valley. (um, yes, it was harder going up than down the stairs...!) And from the LRT bridge, a beautiful river and sky. All of this is so much better in person. The weather today was gorgeous...very cool on our morning walk to visit Julie but nicer by the time we had stroller class. Katie was warm and tucked in with fleece jacket and blanket.
Ben is doing well too...I can't believe I haven't mentioned him yet today! Without him, I could never be supermom! He makes Katie laugh while I'm busy in the kitchen and loves feeding her. Really, he's a Superdad...and probably doesn't even know it.
Gosh...now I think I'm rambling. I think there was something else I was going to say, but I forget...til next time I guess!
Well, another weekend has come and gone. How do they go by so fast? Friday night Ben and I rented a movie...Knocked Up...which, I know, is silly frat boy humour for the most part, but some of the baby stuff was funny and relevant to us. Ok, who am I trying to impress, I thought it was hilarious. The movie may not be for everyone but for a light laugh it's good enough.
This weekend we also tried riding Patrick the Puppy, an adorable "rocking puppy" that was a gift from Alli and Shannon...Katie can't quite manage on her own yet, but she enjoyed the ride anyway. We also celebrated Stephanie's birthday (wii wish you a happy birthday!) with a lovely brunch on Sunday. Katie was a really good girl and didn't fuss much at all even though we pushed an hour past her nap time. We had a nice visit with Auntie Janet and Uncle Steve(not pictured, that's Grandpa Ken of course!) who were up from Peace River. Katie had never met Auntie Janet before but I think they got along well. We also bought another new car seat...turns out the other one didn't actually fit well in the end. Gosh Darn It (or other choice words). But the new one is fantastic and fits very well. Katie felt comfortable enough in it to sleep on her very first trip. The trip was to Grandma and Grandpa Mary and Dan's for dinner. Now, I know mom and dad, that Katie did not appear to happy when we left (who wasn't sad to leave after a yummy dinner?) but as proof that she was indeed ok, and we do not tolerate crazy screaming all the way home: A happy girl not 1 minute after leaving. Ah, the magic that is "puppypuppypuppypuppy" (said in a growly voice).
1. Last weekend mom and dad bought me a new cute pair of pants. 2. Actually it was at least 2 new pairs of pants. 3. I have been learning how to sit up a bit. It's works best when I'm not too tired and better when I'm sitting on someone's lap. But as you can see, I can definitely sit up on my own. (for a few seconds anyway!) 4. I love my dad. (You probably already knew that) 5. I love my mom too. 6. We grew some sexy love carrots in our garden this year. 7. See I told you I was sitting up! 8. My mom's Uncle Jerry makes the best Zucchini Ginger Marmalade she's ever tasted (ok,so the only ZGM she's ever tasted, but boy was it good!) 9. I'm a very happy baby. 10. Mom cleaned out the junk drawer the other day and these were the contents. How does that much stuff fit in one drawer? 11. I'm learning how about space and how to read...At The Same Time. Thanks to Dr. Suess and Uncle Shannon. 12. I celebrated my 5 month birthday on Wednesday...holy cow that's old!
These are all things I've been meaning to tell you. I feel much better now...it's no fun keeping secrets.
