Warmer

Today we are warm. The weather has perked up...yesterday was a balmy (get your shorts on) -1 or so. And I thought it would be a good day to try on a sweater jacket.
Ben's grandma (GG Mary) made this for him when he was little. I really thought it was going to be too big still, which is why we weren't wearing it when it was colder. But it fits really well! And it's cute. The sleeves are a little long, but that's good for keeping her hands warm.
After strollercize yesterday we went to G Mary's for lunch and tea. We had some blossoming tea that unfurls into a flower while it steeps. Beautiful!
As Grandma pointed out, you really need a glass teapot for full effect. A bodum/french press coffee maker worked very well.
Katie didn't have any tea, but enjoyed Grandma's pretty jewelry instead.
After Ben was finished work we went to prebowl for Thursday (our partners can't make it again) and bowled pretty well. We always play fast when we've got Katie with us and are often surprised at how well you can bowl when you don't over think your moves. We were pretty happy. (and driving...see how Ben is good and paying attention to the road instead of the camera? ...and not to worry, we were stopped at a light).Blackberries ...yummy, juicy and messy were eaten for dinner (tell me if you're ever tired of "Katie eating ___" pictures, ok?). I don't think Katie likes them as much as kiwi, but definitely better than lentils! We played with the ball popper in the evening...Katie enjoys it and tries to get the balls as they slide down.
And sometimes, she gets a little scared and hangs on to dad. Hope your Tuesday treats you well!

Weekend Fun

Happy Monday everyone! We had a very lovely and busy weekend. Hope you did too.

Katie had more fun with her rubber/scoop bib. Tastes yummy!
We had a dinner/playdate on Saturday night. M and R ad their son D. We met M and D at Strollercize. They came for a lovely dinner and agreed to make a blog appearance.
They are super nice and D is such a cutie! He's about 13 months old crawling up a storm and babbling lots.
Both dad's are big helpers...check out feeding time! (sorry about the backflash!)
Our busy weekend did also include some reading time. We love reading!

Sunday we visited with Grandpa Ken and Grandma Cheryl.
Katie got a hold of a magazine...G Ken warned her to be careful with it!
And Grandma brought out some farm animals...Katie was excited to see them!
It was a very green day on Sunday...this was not at all planned! (but I think I know what we'll all be wearing on St. Patrick's day eh?)
With encouragement, Katie practiced some standing (she's so tall when she stands!)
Sunday night we went to Auntie Andrea and Uncle Sheldon's to celebrate his Birthday. (Happy Birthday Sheldon!) I was too busy to take pictures until we were getting Katie ready to leave (into PJs). Don't worry Andrea, there was no pee in the taking of this picture. =)
And I leave you all with a better video of Katie scooting. (the Power of the Cheerio!)

Already busy!

We've already been out, so it's starting to feel like a busy day today and it's only just after 9am!

We drove (took pity on) dad to work and stopped off at Superstore for groceries on the way home. Have you ever gone grocery shopping at 8am? It's the greatest experience ever. Employees are chatty and friendly because they still have energy, the store is clean and well stocked, there's lots of room to maneuver say, a stroller, and there are NO LINE UPS at the cashiers. (although now that they have some self-serve checkouts, there were no cashiers either!)

I'm hoping Katie naps now (20 min, no luck yet...she's feeling chatty too apparently) since we'll be braving the cold again(did we mention it was warmish earlier this week...-18 or so...but is now freezing again?) and heading to strollercize in about an hour.

Yesterday...I found Katie reading a Lee Valley Catalogue.

Looks like Ben will have help with the garden this year!
Katie was also a big help as I cleaned for visitors...She's sure getting the hang of sweeping!
When Jo-Anne and the twins arrived there were many smiles. And sharing toys...like Katie's rocker, Patrick the Puppy. C's a bit of a show off! ("Look blog, no feet!")
Both girls are walking now (have I mentioned that already?) and boy, are they on the move!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Movie Time...

Today seems like a good day for a Katie movie.
This is her doing a bit of a scoot...it's actually perhaps a boring video since not a lot happens but you do see her do the "army crawl" thing. There you go!

Another day, another tooth...

Yes, Katie has sprouted her 6th tooth. My goodness! And without too much fuss...just one wake up incident about an hour after bed earlier this week. Red cheeks were sighted and we suspected a tooth was on the way. It's the 4th one on the bottom, on her right.

Yesterday I mentioned that Katie was into the diaper bag as I blogged...here is the result.
A few hours (and a tidy) later, dad came home for lunch. We worked on our pointing skills (lights?).
And laughed at our reflection.
And took a family self portrait. Could not get one with all of us looking at the camera.
And for my dad, a look at The Gripper in action (a recent birthday gift to me):
Works very well! Easier to hold onto multiple bags and a bonus I hadn't even thought of, keeps the handles all together when I set them down and pick them up again (like when I take Katie out of the car then have to pick up 8 bags at once without falling over). (ok, never 8 bags, 4 on average!)

Hope you all have a great (Ash)Wednesday.

Good Solid Weekend.

We had a good solid weekend. Nothing extra fancy, just plain old good.

Katie jammed Friday evening in her mom-made sweater, which was recently buttoned (buttons added that is). We have decided it's still too big for regular wearing. Grow faster!
Saturday, dad took mom out for some "What Not To Wear" action (clothes shopping! Successful!) while Grandpa Ken babysat. Katie timed it so that she was fed just as we got back and we got to capture the bottle feeding (I'm usually not around for that!).
She looks content.
And Katie also agreed to model a new (non mom-made) sweater from Superstore.(we've said before how much we LOVE their clothes, right?)
How adorable! Makes me want to have a sweater like that for myself!
Dad (former Dodgeball Champion...it's not all bowling and triathlon!) lets Katie play with the TV remote. We LOVE the TV remote. And in New Foods...we tried Kiwi yesterday...delicious!And for full weekend confessions...There was FUNdraising going on at the mall. And, only for the sake of supporting a local volleyball team, we purchased some doughnuts. If you know how many fit into this box, and thus how many Ben and I ate in a 24 hour period, please don't say anything! We also watched some Superbowl on Sunday at Great Uncle Joe and G. Auntie Joan's. Katie was mesmerized...Chili was good and the commercials were fun. Just don't ask me who was playing or who won. (I'm not much for sports)

Right now Katie is on the kitchen floor, rolling around playing with the contents of the diaper bag which she emptied and explored all by herself. (I am supervising of course...there's mostly her toys in there anyway!). More scooting going on but no real crawling. She does a kind of army crawl over her arm, but that's about it...and only once or twice to get what she wants. And if she doesn't get it, she just rolls over and find something else.

For those of you wondering about the microwave, (episode 732) we have resolution...they will replace our microwave! The store manager is just looking to see if they still sell that model or whether they will sub something similar. About Time!

:-p to you sears!

The (nap)Times They are a Changing

While not for sure, I have a sneaking (or is it sinking?) suspicion Katie is losing a nap. She's, until now, been a very consistent 3 nap/day girl. Nice because I get more "mom time" but also a bit annoying because there's not a big window of time to do anything.

We've noticed her naps have been fairly easy to "push" in the last month or so. We could even skip one occasionally or get by with a cat nap in the car. Yesterday, I tried to put her down at 8:15, 15 min later than the usual (this is an hour after she wakes up and eats breakfast...seems silly I know, but it worked) and I heard her, off an on until shortly after 9. I didn't hear much noise, so I thought she was sleeping a bit. But when I "woke her up" and was nursing her, she fell asleep so quick that I knew she had not slept much, if at all.

This morning, I decided to keep her up until she really let me know she was tired, and that wasn't until around 9am. So, by my scientific calculations, this could lead to her waking up a bit before lunch and going down again at least by mid afternoon. Two naps/day.

We'll see how my theory works and as always, I will listen to her cues regardless of what the clock says.

On to pictures! Katie got some mail yesterday! An lovely early Valentines Day card from Auntie Alli and Uncle Shannon. Such a cute bunny! It's all flocked (aka soft and velvety).

And this, is my smart Katie multitasking. Playing with her zipper while playing with her card. (not trying to lick the bunny) What fun!Shake Shake Shake!
Our little girl is growing...that big snowsuit sort of fits enough to wear now. Which is good because the other, light pink one is getting a bit snug.
Our adventure in Winterland went well yesterday...a quick stop at the yarn shop to buy buttons for one of Katie's sweaters and look at (drool) over beautiful yarn. And Katie came with dad and I to pre-bowl for league night, since the rest of our team was away and it's not as much fun without them. (Ben was awesome, myself, not so much!)

Today, episode (what seems like) 135 with the microwave..."Repair Guy, Back Again".

Happy Friday!
